With our first year officially closed out, I am pleased to announce that Marathon Premier Sailfish Tournament will be back in April 2023. The official dates and an itinerary detailing the events are posted here .

With the help of all the tournament participants, sponsors, donors, and raffle/silent auction proceeds, we raised $10,000.00 for Mission Fishin’. On June 18, 2022, Mission Fishin’ had a fishing trip on the Miss Islamorada vessel. I had previously contacted the Mission Fishin founder, Tony, to meet with him and his team. The Miss Islamorada donated the boat for that morning to take the Mission Fishin’ group out for a 4-hour reef excursion in Islamorada, Florida Keys.

It was a beautiful day but very hot out, so when the group arrived back at the dock, most headed straight to their vehicles to turn on the Air Conditioning. Tony Davis, founder of the Mission Fishin’ organization, and his family stuck around to chat with me. I spoke with several fishing professionals who had just finished their trip and discussed the tournament. We all joked about how crazy the weather was for this year’s tournament and how we hoped for less wind in the future years.

After that, I presented them with a check for $10,000. Tony said he was blown away by the donation and was very grateful for the support. We snapped a photo with Tony and his sons while holding an oversized novelty check. It was a great feeling to see the preparation and hard work that went into the planning and execution of the event pay off.

Mission' Fishin' has been invited to attend next year's MPST awards banquet and plans to keep me posted on how the money will help the special needs community.

With the 2022 tournament closed out, the planning has begun for the 2nd annual Marathon Premier Sailfish Tournament in 2023; the details have already been published on this website. I am incredibly proud of my team and everyone who participated in this event. I am so grateful to all of our wonderful sponsors and donors. I was also thrilled to hear the participants' positive feedback and how they look forward to the next one.
