Congratulations to Ryleigh Daniels from Team Whiskey Bent, for winning this year's New Director's Choice Trophy sponsored by us! Ryleigh Daniels caught her first sailfish ever on day 1 of the tournament! She finished day 1 as the top female angler on the leaderboard and held that position until the afternoon of day 2. Ryleigh also caught the last sailfish of the tournament with just 3 minutes left of the tournament! Despite coming up just shy of the win, her grace and enthusiasm for the sport were exactly why Tournament Director Katie Lewis chose her for this honor. Team Vice Versa just hooked up to a quad! They converted on 3 of those hookups courtesy of Hudson Wampler, Hunter Barron, and Steve Keys release in that order. This puts them in 1st place and moves Headin' South to 2nd, and Rhumline - Land and Sea Market in 3rd. Good luck to all teams, lots of fishing left!

WOW! What a finish to day one of the 5th Annual Marathon Premier Sailfish Tournament! It was a nailbiter with a flurry of hooks ups and releases in the last minute. The final results for Day One are Headin' South in 1st Place with 6 releases, Bluegrass Roots in 2nd place with 5 releases and Team Rhumline - Land and Sea Market in 3rd place also with 5 releases. Great job all participants, get some rest and we will see you tomorrow at 8am for lines in!
The afternoon bite is officially heating up! Team Main Attraction and Captain Alex Lewis have moved into 2nd place, hot on the heels of his dad, Captain Marty Lewis, aboard the Headin' South! The action doesn't stop there—we just had two fresh releases. Team Rhumline secured one, and Team Silent Hunter got the other, officially bumping Silent Hunter up into 3rd place!
