This year’s 3rd Annual Marathon Premier Sailfish Tournament was a truly unforgettable experience. The level of support we received this year surpassed all expectations, coming from an incredible network of participants, donors, sponsors, and even anonymous contributors who all came together for a common cause. I am thrilled to share that, thanks to the generosity of so many remarkable individuals, the 3rd Annual 2024 Marathon Premier Sailfish Tournament raised an astounding total of $20,000.00 this year.

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, I had the privilege of meeting Tony Davis, the founder of Mission Fishin’, at Bud n’ Mary’s Marina to officially present this year’s proceeds. As we stood there, waiting for the children and their families to arrive, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and joy. Seeing these wonderful families, many of whom were about to experience the thrill of the ocean for the first time, brought an enormous smile to my face. It reminded me how easy it is to take for granted the beauty and joy that fishing brings to those of us who are fortunate enough to experience it regularly.

Once the Miss Islamorada was prepared for departure, the group excitedly boarded, and I took a moment to introduce myself to everyone. I shared the heartfelt story behind the tournament, explaining how it started, what it represents, and how much it means to the community. As I presented the oversized check to Tony, a wave of gratitude washed over me, knowing that this event, and everyone involved, was making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

With this year’s contribution, the total amount we’ve donated to Mission Fishin’ over the past three years has now reached $40,000.00. It’s a figure I’m incredibly proud of, but it’s not just about the money. It’s about the joy, the memories, and the opportunities we’re helping to create for children and families in Marathon and beyond. Every dollar raised translates into life-changing experiences for these kids, from fishing adventures to bonding moments with their families on the water.

Looking ahead, we have some incredible plans in the works to expand our efforts and continue making a difference in the lives of Marathon’s children. We’re working closely with Mission Fishin’ to develop new ways to support the community, and I encourage everyone to stay tuned for updates on what’s to come in the year ahead.

If you know anything about me, you know I’m already hard at work planning next year’s tournament! The 4th annual Marathon Premier Sailfish Tournament is scheduled for April 25th and 26th of 2025. My goal is to make it even more successful, and with the incredible support system we’ve built, I have no doubt that we can achieve that.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved, whether you fished in the tournament, contributed financially, or volunteered your time. You are making a profound impact, and your support is greatly appreciated.

This tournament isn’t just about the competition; it’s about coming together as a community to make a difference. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish next year, and I’m deeply grateful for every single person who has helped make this dream a reality.
